The seven-member Board of Directors of the POA is responsible for overseeing the property and affairs of the Association.

President - Fred Owen

Fred served in the Marine Corps during the Korean conflict, attended law school at the University of Texas, and moved to Horseshoe Bay from Houston with his wife Beryl Ann. He served as an attorney in the oil, gas and mineral industry, both domestically and internationally, serving the last five years of that career as General Counsel of Pennzoil Company. Fred is an ordained elder in the Presbyterian Church, and he and Beryl Ann are active members of The Church at Horseshoe Bay. Term expires March 2010.

 

Vice President - Jay Suter

Jay received a BS in Economics from Bradley University and started his career in 1958. He worked for, managed and owned a small ($30 million) pet food company with plants in six states. Jay has been a Horseshoe Bay resident since 1996. He is an active member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church and the chaplain of the Marble Falls VFW #10376. Jay is a 4th Degree in the Knights of Columbus as well as its financial secretary. Term expires March 2009.

 

Secretary - Paige Schwitzer

Paige and her husband Bob have lived in Horseshoe Bay since 1998. She served as President of the Parish Council at St. Paul the Apostle Church for three years, serves on the Parish Council, and active membership in the Paulist Associates. She also belongs to the Horseshoe Bay Book Club; serves on PR Committee for the POA Fourth of July celebrations; plays golf; enjoys reading as well as recording reading material for the blind. Term expires March 2009.

 

Treasurer - Robert E. (Bob) Glanville

Bob received his BS in Math from the University of Texas at El Paso, his JD from Cumberland School of Law of Samford University, and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas and the Louisiana Bar. Prior to entering private law practice, he was a trial attorney with the IRS Office of Chief Counsel in New Orleans. Bob is now in private law practice in Horseshoe Bay. He and his wife Fritzie are active members of The Church at Horseshoe Bay. Term expires in March 2010.

 

Director - Warren Newman

Warren received a BA in Economics from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT. He served two years in the U.S. Army. Warren joined The Northern Trust Company in Chicago in 1965 and was a vice-president in the Municipal Bond Dept. specializing in municipal bond underwriting countrywide. In 1977 he joined Woolsey & Co. in Oklahoma City as a principal of the firm. Warren became a Texan in 1981 by joining Republic Bank in Dallas. He and his wife Ruth moved to Horseshoe Bay in 1994. Warren is treasurer of the Hill Country Men's Golf Association and a board member of the Highlands POA. He is a part-time property manager and enjoys golfing with friends. Term expires March 2011.

 

Director - David Pope

David received his BBA from the University of Texas in 1962 and has been a Texas CPA since 1964. He and his wife Nelda have been residents of Horseshoe Bay since 2002. David was with Ernst & Young from 1962 until 2002, serving in Houston where he was Office Managing Partner from 1977-1983. He spent 1983-1986 as Managing Partner Southeast Asia (SEA) and Member of International Management Council residing in Singapore. In 1987 and 1988 he was Managing Partner SEA and Hong Kong office and Member of International Management Council residing in Hong Kong. David next served as Senior Audit Partner in Chicago from 1989 until 2002. He is a founding director and deacon of The Bible Church of the Lakes, as well as director and treasurer of the Friendship Cemetery Association. David enjoys travel and golf. Term expires March 2011.

 

Director - Tom Schmersahl

Tom received his BS from Southeast Missouri State following a stint in the U.S. Army including a 13-month combat tour in Vietnam. He later received his MBA from The Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis MO. Tom worked in the telecommunications industry for Contel, later purchased by GTE and through merger for Verizon. Over twenty years of his career were spent as a registered lobbyist in Indiana, Missouri, Texas and Illinois. In 2003 he retired as Director of Government Affairs in Illinois for Verizon. Following a few years of contract lobbying, Tom and his wife Jackie retired to Horseshoe Bay in 2006. Term expires March 2011.
